Dacia Duster

Dacia Duster Concept

Dacia Duster Concept

Yes people, it’s our very own Dacia, powered by Renault.  It’s supposed to address the youth market with a crossover utility and headlights that strech right to the car middle. And don’t forget about the suicide doors. I believe this concept really deserves the name Dusty, from all the sitting around on the design board since the 90’s. Nothing modern here, just a design cliche and a 1.5 dCi engine that spits out just 139g of CO2/km.

But even if we just sit around talking about it, let’s not forget that the production model is just going to look like a slightly jacked-up Sandero with extra plastic around the bottom half. After all, it’s a Dacia! :-)

The new Dacia Sandero

1401-1024×768.jpg

Dacia is one of Renault-Nissan’s success stories: a new, quasi-global brand specializing in cheap segment of the automotive industry. Most reviewers point the the Dacia Logan as a decent drive with a hideous interior. At approximately 6000 EUR (net), the Logan is by far the cheapest more-or-less modern car sold in Europe, Russia and many third-world countries. So, despite being one ugly car, it’s a hit.

Today Dacia announced the all new Sandero (Logan’s younger brother), and I think it will be a hit just like Logan is/was ;-) . A bold strategic move for Renault since this car will raise the par for Logan and also Clio and will “cannibalize” some of the market share. Enough talk, see for yourselves.

Test drive

What: New Audi A4
Where: Polus Mall, Cluj Napoca, RO
When: Yesterday

Event organized by Autoworld and Polus Center.

Things I enjoyed: design, quality look&feel, seating comfort, smooth automatic transmission.

The car handles great, especially in turns, and you can really feel the kick when you slam your foot on the acceleration. The test course was designed to really push the stability limits to the maximum – limits that can easily be broken by expert rally driver Bogdan Marisca, who was also on the track, giving enthusiasts the ride of their life.

I would like to thank Dan Paraschiv, sales manager for the Audi brand in Cluj. Thanks Dan, for your patience and guidance through the turns. When do we get to drive the R8? :-D
