Forever autumn..

A little taste of some nature shots I took last week and one of my favorite rock songs performed by Lake of Tears.

Would like to dedicate this post to my father, he turned 50 today. Happy birthday!

We’ve landed!

NASA Phoenix touched down on the Red Planet at 4:53 p.m. Pacific Time (7:53 p.m. Eastern Time), May 25, 2008, in an arctic region called Vastitas Borealis, at 68 degrees north latitude, 234 degrees east longitude.

This is an approximate-color image taken shortly after landing by the spacecraft’s Surface Stereo Imager, inferred from two color filters, a violet, 450-nanometer filter and an infrared, 750-nanometer filter.

The Phoenix Mission is led by the University of Arizona, Tucson, on behalf of NASA. Project management of the mission is by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, Calif. Spacecraft development is by Lockheed Martin Space Systems, Denver.

Austrian weekend

This weekend I went to Austria, to the beautiful region of Salzburg, to find some inspiration as well as have a taste of what Austrians are all about. Have in mind that I was much more interested in their Apfelstrudel than in Mozart or classical music.

Got there after a prolongued shopping break at the Parndorf outlet stores as well as Wien’s SCS. We decided to stay at Hotel Sallerhof which is run by Barbara and Klaus Schnoell-Reichl. The hotel is situated very close to the city of Salzburg, in the village of Groedig. I must say that I was impressed by the pleasant ambiance before getting there, as they have built a great website for their hotel, with plenty of useful information both about the Sallerhof as well as its surroundings.

I had some problems finding the place at first, because I looked it up as a point of interest in my navigation and it was set with the wrong address, so all you iGo users beware. The safest way to find it is by looking for the address they provide, or follow the instructions from the website.

Klaus was very helpful and provided abundant information about, well, anything we could pop up questions for. The hotel interior is immaculate from the reception up to the rooms. After a long shower and a great dinner I went straight to bed. Woke up thinking about that home cooked pastries the Sallerhof had to offer for breakfast. They fully met my expectations, simply delicious!

The following day I had the chance to visit Salzburg, one of Europe’s most beautiful cities. For a great view I recommend you go visit Hohensalzburg, the 900-year-old fortress, the city’s chief landmark, which is the biggest and most fully-preserved fortification in Europe.

On Saturdays you can visit the local farmers market in Salzburg for some delicious Austrian treats as well as souvenirs. They have great selling skills by the way they display their merchandise. Of course I had to buy chocolate :-)

I could be writing more about this weekend but my time ( as well as yours) is short so the best advice I can give to you is: GO! It will totally be worth the trip.
