Google’s “virtual” world
Here’s Google’s latest creation: Lively. My room is embedded below.
Although I am a Google fan, this application is far from being a standard when it comes to 3D avatars and virtual worlds. Lively is just one among the other 30 (or so) virtual worlds. It could evolve into something new and innovative but, as it is now, it has a long way to go. 3D chat rooms and 3D avatars have been here for more than 10 years now and they’ve been far from changing the way we communicate.
Lively is far behind Second Life(Linden Lab) in this battle to take over the 3D virtual world market, but since we are talking about the financial and technical power of Google Inc. behind the project, things might change in the near future.
