Microsoft + Yahoo = Love?

Microsoft has pounced on slumping Internet icon Yahoo with an unsolicited takeover offer of $44.6 billion, seeking to join forces against Google in what would be the biggest Internet deal since the Time Warner-AOL merger in 2001.

The surprise offer of $31 per share, made late Thursday and announced Friday, seizes on Yahoo’s weakness while Microsoft tries to muscle up in a high-stakes battle with Google likely to define the technology landscape for years to come.

Yahoo said it will ‘carefully and promptly’ study Microsoft’s bid.

UPDATE: Reports are that Yahoo’s board will turn down the takeover offer from Microsoft as Yahoo share prices rise. Well duh! :-)

Lack of creativity

Catching the attention of potential customers has become harder in the last few years due to the avalanche of advertisements the corporations have bombarded the market with. Yes, we’ve seen-heard them all.

The only alternative left for corporate marketers is to come up with an amazing, extraordinary, highly infectious viral campaign. Sadly enough, there is no easy or sure way to create something that will turn out to be catchy enough to spread, but there are a few simple steps that will ensure you’re on the right path to the consumer mind.

No. 1 – numero uno – Do not let your fears stand in the way. This is probably the main reason many companies are reaching a creative dead-end in constructing a successful marketing campaign. Do not limit yourself to your fear, stay on the right track and continue what you are doing.

Second point – be innovative! This is also extremely important because in today’s world if you want to be seen, you really have to stand out. Don’t just be different, be outstanding! I’m not going to tell you to “think outside the box”. There is no box! Just your imagination. Everyone of us is capable of creative thinking given the chance to prove ourselves. Just trust yourself and you will come up with something remarkable. Write down the ideas, if they don’t strike your fancy, write some more! Sooner or later creativity will hit, and when it hits, it hits hard.

Nooboarding

Did I tell you how much I love weekends? I also love snowboarding -- new found hobby and great way to stay in shape (also a great way to break some useless body parts we are all carrying). My friend Horea and I went to my mountain retreat this weekend and practiced some basic snowboarding maneuvers (falls). Luckily for you we got it all on tape:

Also the not so cool version.

This video teaches you how to make your own magic fireballs with a piece of cloth, some string, and lighter fluid! Check them out, they’re freaking awesome and don’t look like you can actually burn something with them. I’m heading to the hardware store to pick up the supplies I need and I’ll update you if they’re as fun as they look.

NEWSFLASH: I burnt the fcuking house down.
